Advancing Regional Resilience Through Peer Support and Collaboration
Region 3 utilities continue to demonstrate leadership in strengthening mutual aid networks, emergency preparedness, and peer-to-peer support. Agencies such as the City of Redding and Paradise Irrigation District (PID) have shared valuable expertise and experience across the region, particularly in the areas of wildfire recovery, emergency communications, and operational continuity.
Staff leaders, including treatment and operations supervisors, have actively participated in regional coordination calls, trainings, and information exchanges, helping build a culture of readiness and support among both large and small water systems. This includes efforts to encourage participation in CalWARN by rural and under-resourced agencies, and to promote regional knowledge sharing based on real-world emergency response lessons.
These informal collaborations are helping to improve emergency response capabilities, increase situational awareness during disasters, and foster trusted relationships that can be relied upon when formal aid is needed. Region 3 continues to grow stronger through this ongoing spirit of cooperation.
